That's a good pick up for the Yankees.
I'm going to be pissed beyond belief if the deadline passes tomorrow and we're stuck with only Edwin Jackson to show for it.

Rangers are getting after it, got Cantu the other day and Guzman today. I don't think Guzman is official yet though, good depth moves.

Olney tweets that Houston is picking up most of the money in the Berkman deal and the Yankees aren't giving up many prospects. What in the flying fuck?
I saw that. It seems like Kenny always has to overpay in terms of prospects to get anything worthwhile. It's getting old and I hate the "whatever it takes to get our guy, even if we "lose" the trade" mentality...

And really, my gripe is probably universal amongst all fans. Fans generally tend to overvalue their own prospects while having no idea about prospects from other teams (barring MLB ready guys, for the most part), so it always seems like highway robbery when another team makes a deal...
I dunno, just thought Berkman would've been a nice alternative, I guess.Just hope the Sox don't end up with Jackson as our only acquisition.
I'm just saying if Berkman was there to be had, for little financial and talent cost, then we better have been in that shit down to the wire (unless he was only open to going to the Yanks, in which case c'est la vie).
Yeah, that's my take as well. Hell, I was hoping that the Sox would just take on his salary to lower the Astros' asking price, but now it looks like the Astros were willing to eat salary for marginal prospects. Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.
Going to cry when Kenny trades the remnants of our farm system for Dunn sometime in the next 20 hours.
Yeah, but we always bitch about how our farm system is always being traded away. Has it ever really come back to bite us? And yet here we are again in another pennant race amidst the best decade in White Sox history.
So KW, do what ya wanna do!

Yeah, that's been true up to this point.
Anyway, USA Today's Bob Nightengale tweeted that Berkman turned down a deal to the Sox, so no need to lament over the Sox missing out...![]()
Berkman, Delgado, Brian Giles, Peavy. Oswalt said he wouldn't waive his NTC to come here, and didn't Griffey Jr. stiff us in 2005?
Larry Walker in 2004.

It is what it is, Sox aren't a destination. And if you can choose between us or the Yankees in a ring chasing situation, well...
You have to wonder if some of this isn't people not wanting to deal with Ozzie as a manager.
Oswalt got lit up in his Philly debut.

Olney:
Teahen?Heard this: With two trades in the books today, the Yankees are working on another -- presumably somebody who can play 3B

That just costs Washington some leverage. Big deal.
