Ate here last Friday.

Atmosphere: Place was pretty packed, glad I made a reservation. Its big. Lots of tables and activity. Nothing special to look at other than the food in the front window, but whatever.

Service: When I called to make the reservation, the dude who answered the phone was like "Yeah?". I was like:

"Uh, is this Sun Wah?"
"Yeah"
"...can I make a reservation for tonight at 7:30?"
"Name"
Gave him my name
"See you at 7:30" [click]

I thought that was funny. Service was pretty solid. The waitress came by to cut the meat at our table.

Food: Holy shit. Hands down the very best duck I have ever had. It was so freaking tasty. They have duck hanging in the front window to entice the meat eaters to come in. We had duck with won ton soup, fried rice, bok choy, and they gave us free bao to boot. Everything was really good.

Atmosphere 2: Some eye candy. A mix of everyone. Don't think I've seen a restaurant with that diverse of a crowd in quite some time.

Bathrooms: Had em, used em.

Price: A full duck and all the fixings mentioned above, with a couple drinks each, cost us about $60 with tip. What made it even better is that they were not stingry with the amount of food they gave us. We had enough to each have leftovers for the next day, so it was like I got 2 meals for the price to one.

They have carry out too, apparently.

I got a hankering Saturday and since the nearest Portillo's is a 5.5 hour drive, I decided to go check out this joint, located in the mountains of the peninsula in San Mateo. First thing I notice is they have been around for awhile as they have been voted "Best Pizza" and "Best BBQ" in San Mateo County for 7 straight years. Yes, it is a Chicago pizza-slash-Texas-BBQ joint! Well, naturally I ordered the beef. Comes with Provalone? Keep that shit off my beef! Giardiniera is .75 extra? After a healthy wait, they served up my craving. It was quite tasty and I deem it "Best Italian Beef in NoCal" which is not saying a whole lot, now that Goombahs is out of business. The bun was toasted and the sandwich was sliced in half, two MAJOR no-no's. The meat was quite dry, but they did give me a cup of au-jus, french dip style. The giardiniera was VERY meager, but flavourful.

I decided mid-sammich that it would be foolish not to try their pie, so I ordered a mini 6" stuffed. Tried it at home and it was slightly below average, with a faint sweet taste to it, which was an immediate turn-off. Zachary's is still King of Chicago-style in California.

Overall, I'd give WCP 3.5 out of 5 pulsating crotches. I would go back for a beef, just cause it is the only game in town, but if I get a BIG craving, it is Portillio's online for me!

Atmosphere: Pretty good. Lots of Bears stuff on the walls, plus they are the NoCal headquarters of the Chicago Bears fanclub and show all of Da Bearce games. May end up here on a few Sundays this season. Full service bar with several flat screens to curse at.

Bathrooms: Don't know if they had 'em. Don't know if I used 'em...

last week was okay with the games and all but now i am on fumes. lunch today was broccoli with mozzarella cheese. killed the broccoli and cheese. dinner was green pepper tacos: corn tortillas, green pepper, cheese, sour cream, black olives and salsa. killed the tortillas, green pepper and salsa.

tomorrow's dinner will likely be green beans. man, i'm going to be eating condiments by the end of the week.
