Any of you 2D fucks try this shit yet?

Well I did and let me tell you the haps.

Was at Best Buy and they had a display set up, with the glasses and crap. I forgot the brand but I want to say it was panasonic. I can get fucked if wrong.

Well nobody was using it and even though I'm usually sickened by touching or wearing something that an endless amount of fat, filthy, assholes have touched I put the goggles on and surprise, THEY DID NOTHING (almost).

What they had on tv was girls beach volleyball () so things started out good. W/o glasses the image looks like doubled up almost. I put the glasses on and notice that most of the image still has that same odd loook to it. Only the section you focused on actually congealed into a 3d image and the shit immediately outside the center of vision still had that shitty look.

Has anyone else tried this stuff? To me it's absolute garbage.

He's even managed to get his hands on an Edison Cylinder and plays some old songs on that.
I've always been X-Box over Playstation in this generation of gaming but I can't defend this. Supposedly Microsoft is going to try and justify this with addition of ESPN3 (already get it on my PC with my cable provider) and Video Kinect with I guess you can video chat with the Kinect or some bullshit (sounds gay and also another feature I can do on a PC if I wanted).

The 57-year-old software guru on Friday sued much of Silicon Valley, claiming Internet giants such as Google Inc., Facebook Inc. and eBay Inc. have built their businesses around what he says is his technology.

Mr. Allen's suit, filed in federal court in Seattle, asserts those three companies and eight others are using technology developed a decade ago at the billionaire's now-defunct Silicon Valley laboratory. Mr. Allen, a pioneer of computer software, didn't develop any of the technology himself but owns the patents.

His targets vowed to fight. "This lawsuit against some of America's most innovative companies reflects an unfortunate trend of people trying to compete in the courtroom instead of the marketplace," a Google spokesman said. Other companies named in the suit said they planned to defend themselves or weren't available to comment.

I read about this Rockstar game in an issue of Game Informer from a few months ago, and it looked spectacular. Generally speaking, it's an adventure game set in 1940's LA after WWII, where you play a police officer (start out walking a beat, culminate as a homicide detective) tasked with solving crimes. The visuals looked stunning, as the studio behind the game, Team Bondi, are using a new facial-capture system that requires little to no digital animation by human animators. The characters, their face, wardrobe, expressions and dialogue are all captured and rendered digitally at the same time, making for in-game player models that are almost indistinguishable from live-action video (apparently this is how stunning the visuals are, all I've seen are screenshots which, to be honest, are really, really good).

Not a lot has come out about the game from Rockstar, and really most of the info about the game came from that single GI spread, and Rockstar has been tight-lipped about it ever since (nothing about it at E3 that I saw), including the release date. Earlier in the summer, Rockstar did confirm/hint that the game was slated for a "fall" 2010 release, but recent reports from Xbox Magazine (I think it was them) have the game delayed until early-2011 because of games like Mafia II and Fallout: New Vegas being dropped in such close proximity.

After hearing this, I was a little miffed, because an interview with a Rockstar higher-up in last month's GI it was hinted at that the game was already in the Quality Assessment phase, implying that it going Gold wasn't too far off. If that is the case, the only reason to delay the game would be to avoid looking too-much like a Mafia II clone along with having cramped sales because of New Vegas, Mafia II and Halo: Reach dropping so soon. All of which I understand completely from the business side of selling a product, but it still irks me a bit, mainly because LA Noire was one of the very few upcoming games I was going to scrounge up enough cash to buy this year.

All that being said, apparently Rockstar came out after the "delayed" labels surfaced about Noire, saying "we don't comment on rumor and speculation". Which....what does that mean? All the circumstantial evidence is there for the "delayed" accusations to be true, but Rockstar coming out and kinda dispelling them is a little puzzling.

Anyone know more/pumped about the game?

http://kotaku.com/5607451/bioshock-infinite-goes-beyond-the-sea--into-the-skies

http://kotaku.com/5607451/bioshock-i...into-the-skies

The game is still more than a year off, but the released trailer and gameplay demo shown to select gaming reporters indicates the series is moving away from Rapture and the 40's-50's style of the first two games and towards something completely different.

I'm not exactly sure how I feel about this (the game leaving Rapture entirely). I mean, the completely different setting will allow for some stunning visuals, and the proposed tweaks to in-game interactions and overall feel are definitely interesting, but I just don't know if what Irrational Games is doing here is a great idea for the series.

To me, BioShock is Rapture, it is the setting set up mainly in the first game, but really across both titles set in Rapture. And with that, BioShock is, at least implicitly, the story of Rapture, its history, present, future, etc. To take the next game in the series out of that setting and theme and slap the "BioShock" label on it seems to me to be using that tag for something it was never intended (or at least hasn't been in practice): a franchise label rather than the label of a specific and definite universe.

This isn't to say that the two games are (or will be) completely unrelated, but after the success of the first BioShock and the promise of the second, it seems that telling the story of a completely new locale under the umbrella of the BioShock name is something like to the move away from Raccoon City in the Resident Evil franchise.

What's more, with Rapture being the setting, BioShock did a good job of suspending disbelief. Yeah, an underwater city in the 1950's is a bit preposterous, but the way the somewhat-absurd setting was set up (the construction of the world, the weapons and their cosmetic upgrades and the lack of "hey, down here we have lasers and computers and force fields!!" sub-plots) we were all able to accept that the world was at the very least plausible. But a floating city at the turn of the 20th century? That might be a bit hard to pull off, and gamers might be left struggling with the plausibility of it all rather than fully engaged in the story being told.

Overall, I think Rapture had a lot of life left in it, and while this game doesn't spell the death of Rapture, it's disconcerting to know that another (hopefully) engaging Rapture story is another few years away.
1. Ted Mosby, How I Met Your Mother
In Broadway parlance, a “showstopper” refers to a musical number so dazzling that the audience literally stops the show with an ovation. On television, a “showblocker” stops the show too, but not in a good way. Showblockers are characters so grating—sometimes intentionally so—that even fans of the show heave a heavy sigh when they appear onscreen. Ordinarily, showblockers are minor characters, but that isn’t always the case. Consider Ted Mosby (played by Josh Radnor), the nominal “I” in How I Met Your Mother. Meant to embody all things douchey about New York twentysomethings, from his pretentious preoccupations to his self-aggrandizing romanticism, Ted is also supposed to be likeable enough that viewers will root for him to find true love. And he is that likeable… sometimes. Far too often, though, the HIMYM writers seem to go out of their way to make Ted a spoilsport, having him throw cold water on his friends’ plans, his own love affairs, and viewers’ interest in him as a leading man.
